Current ESPN NFL analyst and former Lions backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky says he was almost cut from the Lions because of voicing his opinion about then-Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. This took place several seasons ago, according to Orlovsky, with the assertion being that Stafford was not being used properly and to his fullest abilities.

"If the @chargers don’t stop asking Herbert to play cautious/timid/scared football they’re gonna self inflict a regression Pep and Steichen had him playing AGGRESSIVE now they are asking him to play risk averse way way way too much," Orlovksy said on social media.

Then, when Orlovsky was asked if current Chargers offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, who was with the Detroit Lions from 2014-15, did the same thing, Orlovsky stated, "I almost got cut for voicing it to the people who needed to hear it." Check out the exchange below.
