America’s Best + Worst Drivers: Where Michigan Ranks

Bad drivers come in all shapes and sizes, and we've all encountered them on the road. You have the ones who seem perpetually lost and indecisive on the roads to the aggressive speed demons who treat highways like personal racetracks. It's like every town has its own special collection of terrible drivers. Leaving some people convinced that their hometown takes the cake for the worst of the worst. Whether it's the overly cautious grannies going 10 miles below the speed limit or the crazy teenagers weaving in and out of traffic, you can't escape the frustrations of dealing with lousy drivers. But, where are the worst drivers in America?

The ConsumerAffairs Research Team opted for a data-driven strategy to find the cities with the worst drivers. Their study involved analyzing an array of data points sourced from the U.S. Department of Transportation. These points include various factors such as the frequency of fatal crashes, the number of fatalities attributed to reckless driving, incidents involving driving under the influence, and the prevalence of speeding in fatal accidents. By calculating this data into a comprehensive "crash score," the team managed to rank cities based on the severity of their driving woes.

Detroit managed to make it onto their list at number 7. According to the study, Detroit drivers need improvement. The rate of fatal crashes caused by bad driving is about double the national average at 12.

Taking the top spot on their list is Memphis, Tennessee. The study revealed that Memphis has the highest rate of fatal crashes caused by bad driving; Apparently, 5.6 times higher than the national average.

Analyzing crash data also gave their research team insight into which states have the best drivers. According to the site, Green Bay, Wisconsin takes that title.
