The Detroit Pistons will face the Cleveland Cavaliers in a battle atop the East at 8 p.m. EST on Tuesday. These teams faced each other on Saturday, a game that resulted in a hotly contested overtime win for the Pistons. However, the Cavs played that game without guards James Harden and Donovan Mitchell, their two best players. Harden will return on Tuesday to even the playing field a bit in another great matchup.
Somehow, the Pistons have turned into an underrated first-seeded team. Despite a 45-14 mark, Detroit is consistently overlooked in conversations surrounding title contention, even with MVP candidate Cade Cunningham averaging 25.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. However, it was center Jalen Duren who took over the game against the Cavs on Saturday with 33 points and 16 rebounds to go along with three blocks. His emergence as a legitimate second fiddle to Cunningham gives the Pistons a chance to keep rolling against any opponent, even a dangerous Cleveland team.
Even after winning at the trade deadline by acquiring Harden, Cleveland has struggled with inconsistency amid a handful of injuries. Mitchell has missed a couple of games, and Harden is now attempting to play through a fractured thumb. Because of all this, keeping things close against a fully healthy Pistons team was a major moral victory, one that head coach Kenny Atkinson will look to translate into a real win now that the Cavs are on their home floor. This is Cleveland's last matchup with Detroit, making it a hugely important one as the Cavs try to climb up the standings.

Pistons vs Cavaliers Prediction and Pick
Given the way Saturday's game shook out, it is no surprise to see things as a coin flip in this game, especially with Harden returning to the court. However, the Pistons shot an abysmal 22% from deep in that contest, missing open look after open look in an uncharacteristically bad showing from beyond the arc. There is almost no chance that they shoot that poorly again, and any improvement should be enough to help Detroit secure its second victory against Cleveland in less than a week.
Alternatively, the under is also worth a look. Detroit has consistently been one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, and consistent scoring should be hard to come by for the Cavs with Mitchell in street clothes.
